2024 Wrapped

This has been a huge year for the world and for many of us personally. As life on our planet becomes increasingly complex, I’m more convinced than ever that our most important skills are self-soothing and grounding. There is a lot of distress and limited capacity to ease it.

I’ve continued to work with people from humanitarian sector, many trying to cope with the enormous weight of global change without losing themselves in it.

I’ve worked with everyday people trying to hold it all together with aging parents, the demands of family life and big jobs.

I’ve supported people through grief and loss, trauma healing, rebuilding identity, breakups, being “less sad”, coming out to their families.

I’ve worked with many clients navigating religious trauma and am so happy to have created the space I needed so many years ago. Along with Sam Sellers and Elise Heerde, The Religious Trauma Collective was launched in September. You can find a therapist, a podcast, a book or an article to support your journey. Sam and I had a chat about being ok over Christmas on her podcast Beyond the Surface recently. You can have a listen here.

By now, you’ll be familiar with Havening Techniques®. I completed my training this year and feel quite evangelical about how powerful this modality is to meet the level of distress we feel and see around us. I love the way it nurtures us back to life and brings such simple relief to the impact of long held trauma, overwhelm and limiting beliefs. I’d love to introduce you to it.

I’m always grateful for people’s trust and have learnt so much from my clients this year. I’m inspired by their courage and endurance, softness, resilience and stubborn hope, often against some enormous odds.

Take good care of yourself this Christmas season, do what you need to do to be ok, to pause and allow yourself some space to breathe.

Permission to:
Rest
Slow down
Say no
Eat whatever you want
Choose yourself
Take the pressure off
Remind yourself it’s only a few days
Wear comfy clothes
Feel sad
Feel happy, despite grief
Create new traditions
Forfeit the whole thing.

My last day for the year will be the 21st December and I’ll be back on the 7th January

You can make a time for a grounding, relaxing SOMA Session in February here (January is booked out now) if you like. These started last week, and they’re beautiful. I’m offering them over summer and I’m calling them a massage for your nervous system.

And if you’d like to make a counselling appointment online or in-person in Marrickville, you can book in here. You can also find me on Substack.

I hope you have a lovely break over summer, whatever you are doing. If it feels heavy or hard, be extra kind to yourself.

Warmly,
Jane
