The Story of You
Signature Course
This is my signature course. Your story matters, it has shaped who you are. Storytelling heals us. Indigenous cultures understand this so powerfully. Time and space for knowing who we are and where we’ve come from can give us such rich insight. It can be the catalyst for mapping our path forward. Rewrite the storylines that keep you stuck or keep giving you the same results, with greater self-awareness and self-compassion
What I wish my therapist knew about Religious Trauma
This mini-course is designed to broaden your understanding of religious trauma, spiritual abuse, and painful experiences in high-demand church and religious settings.
What I Wish my Therapist knew about Religious Trauma includes short video presentations and downloadable resources. Including eBook “The Sentimental Non-Believer. On Loving & Leaving God.” As well as the stories of others with lived experience.
“Jane is a wealth of knowledge and heart in the world of Religious Trauma. She understands it theoretically and personally. As a fellow Religious Trauma Therapist, I know the need for resources like this that will help other therapists put language to experiences of their clients. Jane introduces you to many of the concepts and concerns surrounding Religious Trauma and she does so in a way that is easy to understand and relatable.” Sam Sellers. Anchored Counselling Services.
Freedom from Religious Trauma
Freedom from Religious Trauma is the course I needed when my faith started to unravel and I lost my confidence in church.
I was confused and grieving and wandered around in a daze for many years while I looked for myself reflected in others’ stories and experiences.
This course explores our deep need for belonging and the disorientation we can feel when we start to doubt, question and outgrow beliefs and/or religious institutions. It follows the familiar arc we see from all in, to (mostly) all out and the rage, pain, disorientation and self doubt we can experience along the way. The devastation and shattering of identity we can feel is real. It’s trauma.
And, wonderfully, we can be free. Freedom from Religious Trauma provides tools for healing and rebuilding; learning to trust ourselves and craft new ways to be spiritual, or if that word is too loaded, grounded and whole.
My story, The Sentimental Non-Believer is included with the modules. It’s coming soon.
Grounded
Trauma-Informed Aid & Development
Grounded is the course I needed when I started out in the International Aid sector & in the years since. It's my offering back to the sector.
You can click here to find out more and to register.
It starts by defining trauma-informed, looking at vicarious and secondary trauma and trauma stewardship. Then, the Science of Safety and the nervous system, including the ways we react and respond to stressors. It looks at the key elements of what it means to be trauma-informed and starts looking Inward, addressing burnout, self & collective care. Then Outward, with understanding how to approach working with communities and overseas partners. We then go Global to what it could mean to re-imagine the way the way we carry ourselves in the sector. It ends with tools for emotional regulation and grounding.
I’ve loved staying connected to NGO teams since leaving the sector, presenting the content and seeing people one-on-one for pre/post travel counselling, preventing burnout and navigating vicarious trauma.
“The session you facilitated with the team was very thought provoking. I loved how you created space for them to reflect and discuss, and to grapple with the hard questions. Your own insights and experiences as well as your validation of what others are feeling is so helpful” S.
